Citizens Concert Band

The ever-popular Citizens Concert Band returns to the Islands with singer Jennifer McConnell featured. Long a favorite of Island Arts’ audiences, Citizens Concert Band offers a mix of toe-tapping music that includes traditional band favorites, jazzy numbers, and show and pop tunes cleverly adapted for its mix of musicians. A community band based in St. Albans, its 35 to 40 musicians range from high school age through adults.

The Band has a long history. Founded in 1946 under the American Legion umbrella by soldiers returning home from World War II, it has been going strong ever since. A single conductor, Edric Loomis, led the band from 1946 when he was 28 years old until his retirement after the 2001 season. Today, the Band is directed by Jeremy Berger.
