Island Arts Scholarships

Island Arts Scholarships are available to provide financial assistance to residents of Grand Isle County of all ages who wish to participate in creative arts activities.  Scholarships have been used by recipients to help pay for music lessons, musical instrument rentals, attendance at music camps, participation in a school chorus trip, and dance lessons.  The scholarships may be applied to tuition at theater and art camps, writers' workshops, and other artistic pursuits.   We do not offer tuition assistance to students in academic degree programs.

The Process: Applications are considered individually as they are received.  The Scholarship Committee looks for evidence of serious commitment to learning new skills or achieving greater proficiency or experience in the applicant's area of interest.  We require a statement of financial need but we do not need specific financial information.  Scholarships generally do not cover total expenses and should be used to match or supplement other sources of funds.  Scholarship recipients do not directly receive payment; Island Arts only authorizes payment to providers of goods or services.

Scholarship recipients may be asked to take part in a recital, performance, or exhibition to benefit Island Arts.  Recipients applying for additional funding will be required to submit a report on their activities funded by the previous scholarship with the new application.

History: The Island Arts Scholarship program began in 1999 with the funding of the Bryan Keith Rosenberger Memorial Scholarship fund.  Over 20 young people received these awards for voice, piano, and trumpet lessons.  The program expanded with a gift from the Grand Isle Rotary Club and matching gifts from Katya Wilcox.  The Scholarship Program is made possible by gifts and donations at Island Arts events.

Forms: The forms can be downloaded in two different ways, as a Microsoft Word Document which you can fill out and edit in Word, or as a "Fillable" Adobe Acrobat Document which you can fill in and print.
